Brief Summary:

The Production Planner will develop and maintain short, mid and long-term production plans for The Gleason Works.  The production plans will serve as the foundation for material, assembly, staffing/equipment, capital, outsourcing plans and schedules.  Participate in business projects and initiate process improvement suggestions.

 

Essential Functions:
  • Develops and modifies short, mid and long-term production plans in SAP. 
  • Effective communication of schedules and constraints. 
  • Participates in presentations of the plans to senior management and other personnel, as appropriate. 
  • Initiates suggestions for improvement (i.e. reports / plans / workflow) 
  • Utilizes systems to generate data or run standard reports for decision-making purposes. 
  • Summarizes and communicates the conclusions that can be drawn from these reports and recommends any improvements that should be considered. 
  • Fosters a thorough understanding of metrics that reflect production’s contribution toward company goals.
  • Builds relationships and communicates effectively with all planning/scheduling customers (production floor, internal customer service and national sales groups) to generate and sustain the highest possible level of productivity.
  • Continually develops competency in the areas of planning/scheduling according to the progression planning by participating in training, special projects, process improvement ideas, trade association activities, and other related informational and developmental venues.

 

Requirements:
  • Four (4) year technical degree
  • Three years experience in production planning/scheduling
  • APICS CPIM
  • Advanced Applications skills in a Windows environment
  • General SAP APO DP (Demand Planning) Module applications skills and advanced SAP/APO PP/DD (Production Planning/Detail Scheduling) module application skills preferred.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills in a team work environment.
  • Must have good computer skills.
