Supply Chain Analyst

Brief Summary:

Responsible to manage, procure, and plan inventory.  Execute material related support for specific commodities and/or product lines as assigned.  Work toward achieving company goals for inventory while ensuring manufacturing objectives are met in accordance with accepted standards of professional ethics.

 

Essential Functions:
  1. Ensure that standard costs, source data, material groups, and other required material master fields are complete and accurate.
  2. Participate in new product teams and work with Engineering to engage key suppliers in the concept phase of product design.Identify new sources of supply along new technologies or processes being utilized in product development. 
  3. Participate, and lead as necessary, the qualification of these new suppliers with Supplier Quality Engineering, Engineering and Operations.
  4. Recommend potential sources of supply and insures that material is only procured from approved Gleason suppliers.
  5. Identify long lead time or critical components and insuring that the business system has been updated accordingly.  Identify and drive potential secondary sources or drive engineering to make necessary changes. The purpose is to insure the company has adequate or dual sources of supply on the corresponding materials in order not to impact operations when the product is released to market.
  6. Responsible and accountable to insure all materials being driven via the SOP are available for production at the need date.
  7. Responsible for processing all Engineering change affecting their commodity.
  8. Ensure that standard costs, source data, material groups, and other required material master fields are complete and accurate for all commodity items under Supply Chain Analyst management.
  9. Responsible for negotiating and implementing annual kanban and/or consignment contracts with all suppliers in assigned commodity. This includes all business systems transactions to implement kanban, sequence pull, consignment, VMI, and other inventory management programs.
  10. Negotiate continuous productivity improvements related to component cost reductions.
  11. Responsible for transitioning materials from one source of supply to another as necessary.  This is inclusive of all outsourcing, or alternate sourcing activities. 
  12. Responsible and accountable to insure all materials being driven via the SOP are available for production at the need date for all commodity items under Supply Chain Analyst management.  Expedite and escalation activities as needed.
  13. Participate in and, as required, lead groups within Supply Chain on corporate sourcing initiatives.
  14. Initiate periodic supplier meetings – either at supplier, or in-house to review performance, new opportunities, cost reductions, etc. – results of these meetings to be documented.

 

Requirements:
  1. Bachelors degree in business or technical field, plus a minimum of 5 yrs experience in Supply Chain Management in a mfg environment.
  2. PC literate in Microsoft Office, Internet sourcing, and a working knowledge of MRPExcellent communication skills both verbal and written.Inventory management aptitude a must.
  3. C.P.M. or CPIM Certification, member of Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and/or APICS, The Association for Operations Management.
